The picturesque Bimmah sinkhole in Oman.

Well now I know where I’d like to go on my next holiday.

Check out the amazing work of Canadian digital artist Sakimichan.

My sculptures were originally inspired by the form and function of the sea urchin. The spines of the urchin, so dangerous yet beautiful, serve as an explicit warning against contact. The alluring texture of the spines draws the touch in spite of the possible consequences. The tension unveiled, we feel push and pull, desire and repulsion. The sections of pencils present aspects of sharp and smooth for two very different textural and aesthetic experiences. Paradox and surprise are integral in my choice of materials. Quantities of industrially manufactured objects are used to create flexible forms reminiscent of the organic shapes of animals and nature. Pencils are common objects, here, these anonymous objects become the structure. There is true a fragility to the sometimes brutal aspect of the sculptures, vulnerability that is belied by the fearsome texture.

I just love a twisted re-imagining of Disney classics!

‘from enchantment to down’ by paris-based photographer thomas czarnecki is a collection of photographs depicting fairy-tale heroines in scenes that are darker than their idyllic stories. ranging from the little mermaid washed up on a beach shore to alice trapped in what looks to be an abandoned basement, the twisted series illustrates an alternate ending to the well-known narratives, offering a dramatic contrast to the child-like nature of the original story. haunting and disturbing, the collection remains enchanting in its own right.

Plastered, bleeding and bandaged: post-battle Angry Birds illustrations by Polish artist Scooterek.

This short appeared on Channel 4’s Random Acts as Random Act No. 82. I was absolutely blown away by it!

It show’s lyricist come rapper come poet Kate Tempest trying to find a meaning to the London Riots of 2011.

Not only are her words deep and profound, the correlating gritty animation by Damian Gascoigne adds more depth and meaning. Can’t wait to see what’s next on Random Acts.

Pop Bottles by Italian model and designer Anna Utopia Giordano is a tongue-in-cheek a tongue-in-cheek art project of child-themed branded booze bottles toped with rubber baby bottle nipples.

This is an art project to raise social awareness on topics such as alcohol abuse by teens, alcohol abuse by pregnant women, the disinterest of some parents towards their children (abandoned for days between toys and video games), how far marketers can go to gain the attention of their younger customers. There are no commercial purposes.
